Product Description

Both Side Opening Dual Sheave Hoisting Tackle up to 100KN

Threading a wire rope end through a closed block is slow, and on a tower it is slow at height. This QHS2 series tackle opens on both sides of the frame, so the rope is laid into the two grooves from the side and the plates closed over it. That single feature changes the work: a damaged rope section can be swapped without stripping the reeving, falls can be changed between lifts, and a rope that is already anchored at both ends can still be picked up. Four models from 30KN to 100KN, dual sheave, for steel wire rope up to 13mm, 6.3kg to 18kg.

11281 QHS2-3 30 120 x 35 up to 10 6.3
11282 QHS2-5 50 150 x 39 up to 11 11.0
11283 QHS2-8 80 166 x 40 up to 13 16.0
11284 QHS2-10 100 166 x 40 up to 13 18.0
Sheaves are cast iron on ball bearings in a steel frame. Hanger style is a build option: hook type G, ring type H or clevis type B, and it must be stated on the order because the head fitting and the pin layout change with it.

Where Side Opening Pays for Itself
  • Rope already fixed at both ends: an anchored guy rope or a reeved line can be lifted into the block without releasing either end.
  • Damaged rope section: cut out the bad length, lay the rope back into the grooves and close the plates, instead of re-reeving the whole tackle.
  • Changing falls on site: going from two falls to a single pass, or adding a second block, takes minutes rather than a rope change.
  • Working at height: the crew is not feeding a rope end through a block with gloves on, which is where most dropped-item incidents start.

Two Sheaves and the Fall Ratio
With two sheaves and the rope led through both, the lead line load is roughly half the lifted load, less friction of about four percent per sheave, so a 100KN rated unit working on two falls needs a lead line rated for about 54KN. Rating applies to the block with the rope seated; a side loaded or twisted reeving reduces it, which is why the plates must be closed and pinned before any load goes on.

Running Steel Rope Correctly
Keep sheave diameter at ten times the rope diameter or more: 166mm sheaves suit 13mm rope at that rule, and 150mm suits 11mm. Match the groove radius to the rope, keep the fleet angle into the first sheave under about four degrees, and check that the rope does not cross itself between the two sheaves. A rope that has been run on an undersized sheave will show broken wires on the outside of the bend first.

Inspection
Check both plates for straightness after any side pull, confirm the hinge pins and their retainers are present and the plates close fully, spin both sheaves for bearing noise, and inspect the grooves for rope wear and for steps worn by a previous rope size. Retire the tackle if a plate is bent, a hinge hole is oval or the head fitting shows elongation.

Packing and Supply
Packed in wooden cases, one unit per case above 10kg. Monthly capacity around 1000 pieces, delivery 7 to 15 days, minimum order 1 set, OEM marking and packing marks to the buyer drawing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the tackle be used with fibre rope? It can, but the groove is cut for steel rope; fibre rope needs a wider, deeper groove, which we make to order.
Do both sides have to be opened to load the rope? No, one side is enough for a straight lay-in; both sides help where the rope has to be dressed around the sheaves.
Which hanger for a shackle connection? Clevis type B, which pins through the shackle rather than hanging on a hook.
