Product Description
Lightweight Aluminum Sheave Hoisting Tackle, 10KN to 100KN
On tower work the tackle has to be carried up before it can lift anything, and a steel sheave block at the 100KN end of the range is a two man lift on a ladder. The QHL series runs aluminum sheaves in a steel frame: one, two or three sheaves, rated 10KN to 100KN for rope from 5.7mm to 20mm, with unit weights from 1.8kg to 13.2kg. That is the range where a crew can carry the block in a tool bag, hang it one handed, and still lift a tower section.
Series Data
| Item No. | Series | Sheaves | Rated Load | Max Rope | Unit Weight |
| 11301 - 11353 | QHL | 1 / 2 / 3 | 10 - 100 KN | 5.7 - 20 mm | 1.8 - 13.2 KG |
Sheave diameter and groove width vary by model across the series, so the per-model chart (sheave diameter x groove width, rope size, load) is issued with the quotation for the rating required. Single sheave units are built as open hook or loop type; double and triple sheave units are closed loop type.
Why Weight Matters More Than the Number on the Plate
-
Carry before lift: every kilo comes up the tower before it does any work. An aluminum sheave block is the difference between one hand and a two man carry on a ladder.
-
Dropped-object risk: the block that is easy to handle is the block that is less likely to be fumbled at height, which is where most site incidents with small tackles start.
-
Faster rigging: a light block is easier to hold in position while the pin goes in, so the rigging takes one pair of hands instead of two.
-
Where the trade-off sits: aluminum wears faster than cast steel in the groove, so these blocks suit rope that is in good condition and pulls that are not heavily abrasive. For repeated steel rope drags, a steel sheave block lasts longer.
Load, Falls and Rope
Rating applies to the block with the rope seated in the groove. With two or three sheaves the lead line load falls roughly to the load divided by the number of falls, less about four percent per sheave for friction, so confirm the rope, sling and anchor against the lead line load rather than the lifted load. Keep sheave diameter at ten times rope diameter or more: at the top of this series the sheaves suit 20mm rope at that rule, and running 20mm rope on a smaller unit in the series is the usual cause of a worn groove and a short rope life.
Hanger and Type Selection
Hanger is hook, plate or ring type and must be stated on the order. For a quick attachment to a bracket, hook type with the single sheave open build is fastest; for a permanent lifting point use the plate hanger with a shackle, and for multi sheave reeving use the closed loop build so the rope cannot escape the frame when tension comes off.
Inspection
Check the groove for wear and for a step worn by a smaller rope, spin the sheave and listen for the bearing, inspect the hook or plate for elongation and the frame for twist after any side pull. Retire the block if the sheave flange is worn sharp, the hook throat has opened, or the frame is bent: an aluminum sheave with a sharp flange will cut rope rather than guide it.
Packing and Supply
Packed in wooden cases with sheaves protected. Monthly capacity around 1000 pieces, delivery 7 to 15 days, minimum order 1 piece, OEM marking and packing marks to the buyer drawing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the aluminum sheave be replaced? Yes, sheaves and bearings are service parts.
Is a steel sheave version available in the same frame? Yes, cast steel sheave tackles are a separate series for abrasive duty.
Which model for a 20KN hand carry lift? A single sheave unit in the middle of the QHL range, with the per-model chart confirming the rope size.
