Product Description
508 Series MC Nylon Sheave Stringing Block for Lightweight Overhead Conductor Pulling
The 508 Series MC nylon sheave stringing block is built for line crews who need a light block that still carries a 20-60KN working load. Instead of a metal groove, the conductor runs on a monomer casting (MC) nylon sheave with a machined radius that matches common ACSR, AAC and AAAC diameters. Nylon is soft against aluminium strands, it does not spark, and it removes 30 to 50 percent of the block weight compared with an all-steel equivalent, so a two-man crew can hang and reposition the block on the crossarm without extra lifting gear.
Model Range and Load Data
| Item No. | Model | Sheaves | Rated Load (kN) | Weight (kg) | Sheave / Groove |
| 10104 / 10104A | SHDN508 | 1 | 20 | 16 | Single MC nylon sheave, dia. 508mm |
| 10107 / 10107A | SHSQN508 | 3 | 40 | 38 | Three MC nylon sheaves, dia. 508mm |
| 10108 / 10108A | SHWQN508 | 5 | 60 | 70 | Five MC nylon sheaves, dia. 508mm |
Rated load is stated per block with the conductor sitting in the groove. Mixed builds with a cast steel middle sheave and rubber lined aluminium side sheaves are available on request when the same frame has to serve both conductor and wire rope.
Why an MC Nylon Sheave
-
Soft contact, measurable strand protection: the machined groove is polished after turning, so the surface that touches the conductor has no machining burr. Aluminium strands and grease-impregnated cores come out of the pull without scoring, and there is no galvanic couple between the sheave and the conductor.
-
Non conductive and spark free: MC nylon does not conduct, which makes the block a practical choice for work near live circuits, for grounding wire and OPGW pulls, and for sites where metal-to-metal contact has to be avoided.
-
Low weight, high payload: the SHWQN508 carries 60KN at 70kg, roughly half the mass of a comparable all-metal five sheave block, which cuts manual handling risk during hanging and recovery.
-
Sealed bearings and a usable temperature window: double sealed ball bearings keep grit out and hold grease for life, and the sheave keeps its impact strength from -40C up to about 80C in service.
How to Pick the Right Configuration
-
Single sheave (SHDN508): straight pole suspension, single conductor, distribution and sub-transmission work up to 20KN.
-
Three sheave (SHSQN508): bundle conductor stringing and pulling over angle structures, up to 40KN.
-
Five sheave (SHWQN508): heavy bundle pulls on transmission lines, up to 60KN.
-
Match the groove radius to the conductor diameter, and keep the first block behind the tensioner at least ten times the sheave diameter from the machine.
Quality Control and Inspection Data
Every batch is assembled from castings and nylon blanks with incoming material inspection, and each finished block is proof loaded before packing. Blocks are supplied with a model plate, a rated load marking and an inspection record; a 1.5 times rated load test certificate and third party inspection reports can be issued for project documentation when the buyer asks for them at the order stage.
Packing, Delivery and Support
Blocks are packed singly in plywood cases with the sheave protected against impact in transit. Stock models ship in 3 to 7 days, production runs of 3000 pieces per month are available, and spare sheaves, bearings and keeper pins are kept as service parts so a damaged unit can be rebuilt on site rather than replaced.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the nylon sheave be replaced on site? Yes, the sheave and bearing set is a bolt-on assembly and is supplied as a spare part.
Is the block suitable for wire rope? The nylon groove is intended for conductor; for steel rope use the rubber lined aluminium or cast steel version of the same frame.
Can the rated load marking be customised? Model plate, marking language and packing marks can follow the buyer's drawing.
