Product Description

Insulated Hoisting Tackle with Epoxy Resin Plate and Nylon Sheave

Most hoisting tackles are a conductive path from the hook to the rope. On live line and near-energized work that is the problem: the tackle itself has to stop the current before it reaches the crew, the rope and the winch. This QHJ series tackle uses an epoxy resin plate frame with an MC nylon sheave, no metal in the load path between hanger and rope groove, rated 5KN to 50KN with one to four sheaves for rope from 10mm to 22mm, unit weight 1.3kg to 8.3kg.

Series Data
Item No. Series Sheaves Rated Load Max Rope Unit Weight
11401 - 11443 QHJ 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 5 - 50 KN 10 - 22 mm 1.3 - 8.3 KG
Sheave diameter and groove radius vary by model within the series, so the per-model chart (sheave diameter x groove width, rope size, sheave count) is issued with the quotation for the specific rating required. Hanger style is a build option: open type, close type, hook type or ring type, and it has to be stated on the order.

What Insulation Actually Buys You
  • No metal in the load path: the epoxy plate carries the load and the nylon sheave carries the rope, so there is no continuous conductor from a lifted item to the hook.
  • Weight: a 50KN class insulated unit is a fraction of the weight of the equivalent cast steel tackle, which matters when it has to be carried up a tower by hand.
  • No spark path: nylon and epoxy do not produce the metal-to-metal contact that can arc or mark galvanizing on the structure.
  • Useful in wet or dusty depots too: the same tackle is a reasonable general-purpose hoist where light weight and non-marking matter, not only on live line work.

What the Insulation Does Not Cover
The tackle is the insulated element only. The rope, slings, shackles and the winch line are separate items and are not supplied with the block unless ordered. An insulated tackle on a steel rope, or with a conductive sling below it, gives no protection at all. Insulation also degrades: moisture, oil, UV and surface contamination all reduce the dielectric strength of an epoxy plate, so a unit that has been stored wet or used in a chemical environment should be treated as general purpose until it has been checked.

Load Chart and Reeving
The rating applies to the block with the rope seated in the groove. With multiple sheaves the lead line load falls roughly to the load divided by the number of falls, less friction, which is why a 50KN three sheave unit can be worked from a light insulated rope. Keep sheave diameter at ten times rope diameter or more, and confirm the anchor and sling rating against the lead line load rather than the lifted load.

Inspection Before and After Use
Wipe the plate dry and look for cracks, tracking marks, burns, delamination at the edges and any sign of moisture inside the plate. Check the sheave for groove wear and flat spots, spin it to hear the bearing, and inspect the hanger fitting for elongation. Any unit that has taken a shock load, been dropped from height or shows tracking marks should be withdrawn from live line duty and re-tested or downgraded.

Packing and Supply
Packed in wooden cases with the plate protected from impact and the sheave supported. Monthly capacity around 1000 pieces, delivery 7 to 15 days, minimum order 1 piece, OEM marking and packing marks to the buyer drawing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the rope be supplied with the tackle? Insulated rope is a separate item; specify the rope diameter and we will quote it with the block.
Is a four sheave version available? Yes, the series runs to four sheaves at the upper ratings.
Can the tackle be used on steel rope? It can, mechanically, but it is then no longer an insulated assembly and should not be used near energized circuits.
