Product Description
Corner Cable Roller Bank for Duct Entries and Manhole Bends
Straight rollers keep a cable off the ground. A corner is where the jacket actually gets hurt: the cable arrives at an angle, the contact point moves to one flange edge, and the load concentrates on a strip a few millimetres wide. Three rollers set on an arc share that contact instead. This SHL corner bank carries 10KN, accepts cable up to 120mm, 150mm or 200mm depending on model, and the frame can be built to the turning angle the route needs rather than forcing the cable to a fixed bend.

Models with an N suffix run nylon rollers for cable that must not be marked; the rest are aluminium. Turning angle is built to order, so state the route angle when enquiring.
Bend Radius: The Number That Decides the Corner
Cable makers usually quote a minimum bend radius for installation of roughly 12 to 20 times the cable diameter, with the higher multiples for armoured, paper-insulated, fibre and lead-sheathed types. At 200mm diameter that is 2.4m to 4m of radius, which no compact corner block can provide on its own: the block guides the cable round a short arc, and the route has to give the rest of the radius with additional rollers and a properly cut duct entry. Treat the corner bank as the jacket protector and the route as the radius provider, not the other way round.
Setting the Corner Correctly
-
Align to the tangents: the first and last roller should be square to the incoming and outgoing cable direction, so the cable runs into the groove instead of across a flange.
-
Share the load: set the middle roller so all three carry the cable; a middle roller standing proud takes no load and the outer two take double.
-
Follow the angle, not the wall: frame angle follows the pull direction. On a manhole entry the bench angle and the duct angle are rarely the same, and some depots need two banks.
-
Keep the frame clear of mud: a roller buried in trench spoil is a sliding contact with extra weight on it.
Nylon or Aluminium
Nylon for jacketed power cable, telecom cable and anything with a soft or coated sheath, and for wet corners where aluminium would start to corrode in the groove. Aluminium where the same bank is used with wire rope leads or where heavy grit is unavoidable: it holds the groove longer under abrasion, at the cost of a few kilos and less jacket protection.
Inspection
Spin each roller and reject a stiff one: at a corner the cable is already pulling against a change of direction and a dragging roller doubles the load on the jacket. Check flange edges for burr, check the axle bosses for cracks after any drop, and check the frame for bending after a heavy pull. Rollers and bearings are replaceable.
Packing and Supply
Packed in wooden cases with rollers protected. Monthly capacity around 1000 pieces, delivery 7 to 15 days, minimum order 1 set, OEM marking and packing marks to the buyer drawing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the bank be built to a 45 degree route? Yes, turning angle is a build option; give us the route angle with the enquiry.
Which model for 200mm cable? SHL4N, which takes cable up to 200mm on nylon rollers.
Is a four roller version needed for a tighter bend? A longer bank spreads the contact further, which helps, but the cable still needs a duct entry shaped to the required radius.
