D Series Duct Entrance Roller with Length Fixed Mechanism
Most entrance rollers sit on the face of the duct. On deep manholes, bell-ended concrete ducts and ducts set back from the wall, the cable still touches the bore before it reaches the roller. The D series carries the roller on a length fixed arm, so the sheave can be pushed into the tube to the depth where the cable actually runs, then locked. Seven sizes cover tube diameters from 80mm to 200mm, weights 4.3kg to 12.8kg, single nylon sheave.

Size follows the duct bore. Measure the inside diameter at the entry: the arm body has to sit in the tube without rocking, because a roller that tips under load loads the jacket edge instead of the groove.
Why Insertion Depth Matters

Get past the lip: a roller on the duct face leaves the lip carrying the cable. Set the sheave inside the bore and the lip stops being a contact point.

Control the entry angle: depth plus arm angle sets where the cable first touches, which is how a steep manhole entry is turned into a manageable one.

Stay put under pull: a locked arm cannot walk back out of the duct as the cable loads the roller, which is the failure mode of a roller that is merely rested against the mouth.

Nylon sheave: the single sheave is nylon, so the jacket is not marked and the groove does not corrode on a wet entry.
D Series or B Series: Choosing Between Them
Both are entrance protection rollers in the same tube range and both run a single nylon sheave. The difference is how the roller is held in place. The B series body sits in the mouth itself and locks at the incoming angle: lighter, faster to fit, and enough for a plain duct face where the cable runs close to the opening. The D series adds the length fixed arm, weighs roughly a kilogram more at every size, and is the right choice for deep manholes, ducts set back from the wall, thick-walled concrete ducts and any entry where the roller has to reach further than the face. If a depot works both street ducts and deep chambers, holding B series for the first and D series for the second avoids over-specifying the simple jobs.
Setting Up
Push the arm in until the sheave sits clear of the lip and the bore, set the arm angle to the incoming cable, then lock it. Sight along the cable rather than along the duct: a duct that looks plumb is often two or three degrees off the pull direction, which is enough to walk a cable onto a flange over a long run. Confirm the frame cannot rotate once locked and the lock cannot be reached by the passing cable.
Inspection and Service
Check the sheave spins freely, the groove shows no burr or flat spot, the arm lock engages positively at the working length, and the frame is not bent so it still seats in the bore. Sheaves and bearings are replaceable; a roller whose arm no longer locks is out of service.
