Product Description
822 Series Single Sheave Stringing Block with Selectable Groove Materials
The 822 Series uses one 822mm frame and three interchangeable groove options, which is useful when a depot serves several conductor types from the same crossarm hardware. SHDN822 runs an MC nylon wheel for aluminium and ACSR stringing, SHDL822 runs a plain aluminium wheel for heavy ACSR where groove wear matters more than weight, and SHDLJ822 runs a rubber lined aluminium wheel for OPGW, coated conductor and steel rope leads. Each version is rated 30KN with a single sheave, so crews keep one hanger bolt pattern and one set of spare parts across the whole fleet.
Single Sheave Models and Groove Data
| Item No. | Model | Sheave | Rated Load (kN) | Weight (kg) | Groove |
| 10141 | SHDN822 | 1 | 30 | 40 | MC nylon |
| 10141A | SHDL822 | 1 | 30 | 45 | Aluminium |
| 10141B | SHDLJ822 | 1 | 30 | 48 | Rubber lined aluminium |
Three, five, seven and nine sheave assemblies on the same 822mm platform are available for bundle and heavy haul work; the single sheave figures above are the standard lead and suspension units.
What the Groove Material Actually Changes
-
MC nylon: soft contact against aluminium strands, no galvanic couple with the conductor, spark free near live circuits, and 5 to 8kg lighter than the metal builds. Best default for AAC, AAAC and ACSR up to the rated load.
-
Plain aluminium: harder groove that keeps its radius over long projects and long pulls, and tolerates higher groove pressure from large diameter conductors. Slightly heavier and noisier, and it needs a radius check at each major inspection.
-
Rubber lined aluminium: the liner absorbs impact and grips, which helps with OPGW, grease filled cores, coated conductor and steel rope where a metal groove would polish or nick the outer layer. Liners are replaceable service parts.
Selection Shortcuts Used on Site
If the depot strings one conductor type only, pick the groove for that conductor and keep the order single-model. If the depot covers distribution and transmission, stock SHDN822 for conductor and SHDLJ822 for wire rope, which covers most day to day work with two part numbers. For rubber lined units, confirm the liner hardness with us when the conductor has a thin coating; soft liners are available for that case. Groove radius must match the conductor diameter, and the first block should sit at least ten times the sheave diameter behind the tensioner.
Inspection and Acceptance Data
Blocks are assembled from inspected castings and machined wheels, each wheel is checked for groove radius, groove finish and radial runout, and bearings are checked for seating before the frame is closed. Finished units are proof loaded and the wheel is spun under load, then stamped with model, rated load and serial number. A 1.5 times rated load certificate, groove radius report and third party inspection record can be issued against the order drawing when the project needs documentation.
Packing, Delivery and Spares
Units are crated in plywood cases with the groove protected from transit damage and the hanger eye braced. Stock models ship in 3 to 7 days, monthly capacity is around 300 pieces, and wheels, liners, bearings and keeper pins are kept as service parts so a worn groove or a damaged liner is a parts swap rather than a new block.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I buy the frame with two different wheels? Yes, a mixed order can be supplied with one nylon and one rubber lined wheel for evaluation, using the same frame and hanger.
Is the rubber liner field replaceable? The liner is bonded to a machined carrier and swaps as a unit; no special press is needed on site.
Which version suits coastal sites? All three use galvanized or coated frames; for salt spray duty we recommend the nylon or rubber lined build because the groove does not corrode.
